Velana International Airport has launched a large-scale expansion project to accommodate increased passenger capacity. Due to the unique tropical island environment of the Maldives, the building envelope of the new terminal needed to be adapted to the island's high humidity, high salinity, strong typhoons, and fire protection requirements. To meet these requirements, the project adopted a metal insulation wall panel system primarily supplied by the Chinese manufacturer Glostar, combined with some internationally advanced technologies.
